IN THE LITTLEST DETECTIVE IN LONDON.

Clementine Cordelia Bird (known as Clemmy), is 8 year’s old. A petite, flaxen-haired girl with blue-green eyes and a mischievous grin, Clemmy discovers that her old babysitter Mrs Mac knows something about her mother, who has been missing for over a year. Determined to find her mother, Clemmy becomes The Littlest Detective in London. However, when the evil, 14-year-old Natasha Commonov becomes involved, Clemmy discovers that finding her mother might be a little more difficult than she first thought.

Natasha Commonov is the 14-year-old daughter of crime lord Vladimir. She is beautiful, with huge almond shaped eyes and long, shining auburn hair. Also brilliant and tireless, Natasha is willing to push aside anyone who gets in her way, using brute force if necessary. She lives in the Soviet country of Slakistan, but has escaped her boarding school to travel to England. She is determined to find the evidence she needs to free her father from a Paris jail, and she believes Mrs Mac and the other retired spies may have the evidence she needs.

Mrs Mac is Clemmy’s babysitter, and a member of the Retired Spies Network of London. A large woman with bright orange hair, clothes that are a little too well-fitting, and huge, cats-eyes style glasses - Mrs Mac is also a bossy person who doesn’t see her own failings. She loves to eat, and sees no shame in consuming a whole cake at one sitting. Not the best candidate for a babysitter, Mrs Mac often loses Clemmy in shops or on buses - but when the evil Natasha Commonov appears in London, Mrs Mac is forced to think of something other than cakes, and protect Clemmy from disaster.
Hench Henchman is the laughing stock of his beefy family, who have worked as henchmen for the Commonovs for generations. With spindly legs, a crater-like protuberance for a head, and a fashion sense that is lost somewhere in the 1980s, Hench has no hope in impressing his boss - Natasha Commonov - particularly as Natasha hates him at first sight. Nevertheless, Hench battles on, trying to do the right thing (or the wrong thing right), and failing miserably.
Igor works for Natasha’s father, Vladimir Commonov - and is possibly the laziest person in Slakistan. Given that everyone in Slakistan is really, really lazy, that is quite an achievement! Igor has a small moustache and a large everything-else. He enjoys coffee – so much so that he often ignores Natasha’s frantic calls from London because a steaming new cup has just been plopped in front of him. After sending Natasha the measly Hench by mistake, Igor is very worried that Natasha may make good on her threat to send him to work in the pigsty at the family’s hog farm.
Ratcat is the beloved animal of one of the Retired Spies – Lucinda. With a long spindly tail and a half-chewed ear, Ratcat is an unfortunate-looking creature - half rat, half cat - with an equally unfortunate personality. Clemmy thinks Ratcat is gross. Biting, gnarling its teeth and spitting up its food are just a few of Ratcat’s favourite pastimes.
Origami Pete is a loveable Japanese cop who wishes that everyone around him would just chill out and enjoy the origami swans he enjoys making. Very intelligent and polite to a fault, many people – including Pete’s partner Stu - find his happy nature hard to take. However Clemmy is delighted to have a friend like Pete – who is trustworthy and honest, and always comes to her aid when she needs him.
Vladimir Commonov is a crook, a villain, a murderer, a liar and a bully. He is also Natasha’s father – which explains where she gets her mean streak from. For the moment, Vladimir is safely locked up in a Paris jail, but Natasha is determined to get him out – no matter what it takes.
